Developing and Using Competencies as a Strategic Roadmap
Competence is one of the hot topics in the world of human resources today. There are technical competencies, interpersonal competencies, core competencies – the list goes on and on. How do you build an applicable competency model that supports your culture, strategy and goals? What drives a comprehensive model that is successful for use in selection, performance management, compensation, succession planning, and overall for guiding elevated productivity in your organization? As a basis for understanding how to develop a competency model, this session will design a model for the position of an HR professional. By doing so, participants will understand how to develop competencies for other positions within their workplace. We will look at several “models” and determine what is the most appropriate for our field in today’s competitive environment. As a bonus, every participant will leave this session with several ideas for how to convey his/her competency and overall value to others in the organization.
